every time i open the inventory it lags like a mofo (cant move, cant close inventory - almost as if the game crashes for about 15-20 seconds) and i'm always scared to open my inventory while in a group in case they accidently aggro something - is there any solution/explanation for this? btw - it started about 2-3 weeks ago and as far as i remember, it happened right after an update, but i cant remember which.

I think this is a video driver problem cause I get this on my server but not on my laptop... so I dont know... I have not got an answer back yet from suport on the problem. It may be fixed in the next chapter, or with updated drivers... In my particular case it was the updated drivers that caused my problem... cause the older driver worked without his issue... I guess there are a couple of things to try...

But I would start looking at drivers first...

I used to get that a good bit, to the point where I just started using F9 (or whatever the button is to bring up the bags). Try updating your video card drivers, that did the trick for me.
